I occasionally try to have "school time" during the week with the boys. This particular time we worked on learning our shapes in a fun and tasty way. It helps to even use the colored toothpicks. One thing I've learned from my older sister Stephani is that hands on fun while learning helps them to retain it all. Thanks Steph for all the good ideas!
Owen knows his shapes, so he got creative and made new things. This here is his "airplane." Tanner seems to really like bugs, so the picture below is of his "spider." Okay as long as he makes pretend spiders instead of bringing them to me when he finds them, usually squished between his fingers with the legs wriggling about...gets me every time.
Best part of all is the taste tests we do! We always make sure to eat our shapes and creations. :)
Learning can sure be tasty!

You are so creative! What a fun idea!! We did something similar with the stick pretzels and made houses, then the kids were the "tornado" and ate up all the pretzels. I love getting new ideas! I think we'll have to go get some toothpicks and copy yours! :-)
Thanks! Yours is a cool idea too! I've never heard of using pretzels! We are going to try that this week, and make houses too! Thanks for that, lets keep passing ideas back and forth! :)

I loved seeing you guys this week, those boys of yours are so darn cute. Aaron and I were laughing as I was telling him about that face Tanner was giving you in the van after you got him back in his seatbelt, that kid is so funny.
Hope you guys got to enjoy Jared while he was home, tell him I say thanks for sharing you the other night, it was fun to get out with you and Ems and totally worth the bags under my eyes from staying out till after 2 a.m. ;)
Good Job for even doing creative learning stuff. I love the airplane and spider, they're funny. Hey what happend to Grant? Is he okay now? What did the testing show? I wished we would have gotten together before that Saturday but I look forward to October and Christmas! I had the best time at Applebee's. I love ya and hope all is well.
